Sure. Audio cables may not be the most exciting topic of conversation, but they’re important when it comes to sound design.Audio cables come in two varieties: balanced and unbalanced. An unbalanced audio cable is the simplest, most cost-effective of cables. These devices possess either a mini jack, phono tip sleeve or an rca connector. Most carry a mono audio signal, but there are stereo varieties.Audio Sound CablesNow, an unbalanced audio cable is comprised of two wires. One wire is a shielding mesh wire known as the ground, which is the zero point for the signal. The other is known as the hot, which is the signal itself. This cable is more susceptible to noise interference, and is typically used to cover shorter distances. For longer distances, the balanced audio cable is the ideal solution. Using either an XLR connection or a tip ring sleeve (TRS), these cables possess three wires instead of two. As with the unbalanced cable, there exists a shielding mesh ground wire and a hot wire. But instead of sending audio down a single wire, it is now being transferred down two wires.Along with the hot wire, there is now a cold wire. When an audio signal reaches the end of one wire, it reverses itself and travels down the other. This process cancels out any external noise or interference that might affect the sound recording.Because of this, the balanced audio cable can take a lot of strain on set without sacrificing audio quality. As with all of this sound recording equipment, it’s about determining what is going to benefit your movie the most.ADDITIONAL SOUND GEarTest all equipment and gearConfucius says, “Success depends upon preparation.”Well, the same holds true for sound capture. There is also one more method, where only oud tunning is done by ear. According to this method, the payer is able to hear when the oud goes out of tune and fixes it. Once it is understood that when needed a wire tuning , it is most important to understand whether it will stretch (thin) or be loosened (thicken).4)While turning the auger, constantly hit the pick, check how much the sound is thinning and thickening.5)There is no danger when loosening the wire. While you are stretching, be more carefull. Tune is not learned without breaking the wire.6)If you need to thin, do not stretch the wire immediately. First loosen slightly, then slowly thin.7)Don't push completed auger into the saddle with excessive force.8)This auger, which is too tight, does not move when it is later tuned. For each subwoofer.Strip the ends of the speaker wire: Strip off a small section of insulation from the ends of the speaker wire for each subwoofer.Connect the speaker wire to the amplifier: Take the positive (+) wire from each subwoofer and connect them to the positive (+) terminal on the amplifier. Repeat the same process for the negative (-) wire.Connect the speaker wire to the subwoofers: Attach the positive (+) wire from each subwoofer to the corresponding positive (+) terminal on the speaker. Repeat the same process for the negative (-) wire. When making the connections, it’s important to ensure that the positive (+) wire from the amplifier is connected to the positive (+) terminal on the subwoofers, and the negative (-) wire from the amplifier is connected to the negative (-) terminal on the subwoofers. This ensures proper phase alignment and avoids any wiring issues.Once all the connections are made securely, you have successfully wired the amplifier to the subwoofers. In the final step, we’ll test the system to ensure everything is working properly.Step 7: Testing the SystemAfter all the connections have been made, it’s important to test the system to ensure that everything is functioning as expected. Testing the system will allow you to identify any issues or adjustments that need to be made. Follow these steps to test the subs and amp hooked up to your factory stereo:Reconnect the car battery: Before testing, reconnect the car battery by securely tightening the negative (-) terminal. This will restore power to the audio system.Turn on the audio system: Start your car and turn on the audio system. Gradually increase the volume to a moderate level.Listen for audio output: Pay close attention to the sound coming from the subwoofers. Ensure that you hear deep, clear, and powerful bass without any distortion or unusual noises. You should be able to feel the impact of the bass as well.Adjust the settings: Use the amplifier’s gain, crossover, and equalizer settings to fine-tune the sound to your preferences. Make adjustments as necessary to achieve the desired audio quality and bass performance.Test different audio sources: Play various songs and genres to test the performance of the subs and amp across different audio sources. This will help you evaluate the system’s ability to handle different types of music. If you encounter any issues during the testing phase, such as distortion, lack of bass, or other audio problems, double-check all connections and settings. Make sure everything is properly connected and adjusted according to the manufacturer’s recommendations. If you’re unable to resolve the issues on your own, it’s recommended to seek professional help or consult with an experienced car audio technician.Once you are satisfied with the sound output and performance ofThe Wire - Adventures in Sound and Music

Am doing a DCC ready lighting board to DCC/sound decoder installation, I scrap the lighting board and use the sound decoders wiring or connections directly to the functions they apply to. Instructions as to which wire or connection on the new decoder go where have an illustration or wiring color code with them if bought new. Space above a motor is usually limited and the removal of as much doubling up of circuitry as possible is advantageous. #8 Someone has mounted a sound-capable decoder under the factory installed "green board".Looks like they used some of the connections ON the green board, as well. I am fairly sure that is a factory install. I reached out to Atlas for help, but all they could provide is this e-copy of the exploded parts diagram. I had the paper copy with the locomotive. Thanks, though. I did inquire whether they could send a electronic schematic - answer was 'no.' To Terry's observation: I think you may be right, but I can find no loose wires. One wire connector cap thingy (I don't know the technical term for those slip on wire connectors) was loose and fell out of the shell when I first opened it. But I find no loose wires! There are those two blacks and two reds joined together, but those connections look, to me anyway, like factory. Further, when I apply power to the rear axles, I get lights only. When I apply power to the front axles, I get motor. This I tested using the Kadee powered wheel cleaner. That bespeaks wierdness, but I am stumped as to what to do. I tried putting the loco on the main track, removing all other locos and send the CV08 reset via program on the main, but to no avail. If the ESU decoder is indeed that lower 'sound board' - it has a strange address. Neither 03 nor the cab number. Thanks all for your help, I really want this thing to go! 2025-04-02With good room. I followed MRRsparky's install, but I used the Loksound micro as it can then fit above the motor, with the speaker and baffle glued to the inside of the radiator surrounds (grill cut out and replaced with brass mesh from a source I have forgotten - might have been from a fuel filter). Leaves cab free for driver, detailing etc. And I used a Caterpillar diesel sound file from the ESU sound list. Sounds OK, I envisage that the gas engine was replaced with a diesel.Steve MageeNewcastle NSW Aust I tried my suggestion of using .008" phosphor bronze wire pickup on the trailing truck and I couldn't make it work reliably. Either one side or the other did not have continuity from the rail to the pickup wire, or the wheel set skidded along the rail when I had the pickup wires positioned for good continuity. And that was after adding lead weight to the trailing truck frame. Good idea - bad follow through. Bachmann Online Forum ► Discussion Boards ► On30 ► On30 Gas Mechanical sound decoder installation
