BertThe only thing that makes me hesitant to follow your suggestion is that this is quite a new computer and I only recently installed MS Office from a CD (April). Corel does not make the full replacement updates available forever, and you might need one at some point for WP to run properly on future operating systems or to apply subsequent patches. If your installation CDs are damaged, you can order replacements. However, as of March, 2003, Corel will provide replacements only for the current version of WordPerfect Office and the previous version. To quote Corel's policy: "Replacement media available for current release and one version back only." IMPORTANT NOTE: You might not be able to get replacement CDs for any version older than WordPerfect Office 10 (2002) now that WordPerfect Office 11 and 12 have been released.. Full Replacement CDs v. Downloadable PatchesWhen an update is offered as a full replacement CD or a downloadable file, we recommend obtaining the CD, even if you download and install the patch. Although the full replacement CD usually requires a complete uninstall of your current installation, having the CD version simplifies refreshing an installation or reinstalling. Also, downloadable patches sometimes have proven to be less reliable than the complete re-install from a CD. If you opt for the downloadable patch only or if an update is offered only as a patch, you should store a copy of the downloadable patches (especially large ones)

2025-04-16Patched, which patch has been applied. From the WordPerfect CDThere is a text file on the root directory of the WordPerfect CD called VOLINFO.TXT. That file also contains the program release number. NOTE: Early versions of WordPerfect 7 do not seem to have this file.Figuring Out If You Need to Update Your VersionThe next sections of the FAQ provide information on the version histories of WordPerfect Office, beginning with version 7, and will help you determine if you need to update your version. We recommend updating to the latest release of your major version of WordPerfect (7, 8, 9, etc.), especially if you have one of the early releases, which tend to be very buggy.Miscellaneous information applicable to all versions/releases is provided in the last section of the FAQ. Important Notes about WordPerfect Family Packs and WordPerfect Productivity PacksThe WordPerfect Family Packs are scaled-down versions of WordPerfect Office Standard, sold at a greatly discounted price. By design, a Family Pack does not contain all the functionality of WordPerfect Office. See these FAQ threads for more information on the differences in the WordPerfect Office 11 product family and the WordPerfect Office 12 product family. Family Pack 1 was based on the latest patched version of WordPerfect Office 8; Family Packs 2 and 3, on the latest patched versions of WPO 9 (2000). If you have any of these Family Packs, you have the latest available version of WordPerfect (and Quattro Pro). At least some, perhaps all, versions of Family Pack 4 are based on the Service Pack 2 version of WordPerfect Office 10 (2002). If you have this version of Family Pack 4, you can update it with patches issued for WordPerfect Office 10, but be sure to read the information in this section, below before attempting to do so. There has been some speculation that Corel might issue an update for Family Pack 4, but it has not been the company's practice in the past, and it is unlikely since the releases of both WordPerfect Office 11 and WordPerfect Office 12.The WordPerfect Productivity Pack is a custom package of WordPerfect
