If I open up many tabs in Chrome, the Tabs start to shrink. This is usually a normal behavior if the tabs would use the whole availible space, BUT in my case the tabs shrink too much. They don't use up the whole availible space anymore, but only go until somwhere at three quarters of the window. The more tabs I open, the larger the availible space gets until it reaches a maximum. This strikes me as somewhat not so normal.Another funny thing is, if I use a second Monitor to extend my Desktop, Tabs will be smaller on the second Desktop and will only fill half the availible space from the beginning. For example right now I have 6 tabs open, which fill out approximately half the availible space. If I open more tabs, only the tab size reduces. This has not been like that when I first installed the browser. This is what it looks like:Is there any solution for this? I hereby explicitly mean NO extensions. I found enough extensions to handle tabs. I just want them to behave normally without any of those tab-extensions. Tabs open at the moment (SEE EDIT)), but it's certainly way more than I used to get with Chrome before I switched back to Firefox a couple years back (Tree View Tabs being the motivating factor). Currently using 5.4GB of RAM (OSX is reporting a "Compressed Mem" of 2.96GB), and it's currently pegging one of the cores of the i7 on this thing. This is after about a week of nonstop (i.e. same Firefox process) use, and with Flash present in a lot of places (like the 20+ Github tabs I have open, thanks to Github using Flash for its silly "click here to copy a link to your clipboard" feature; I really need to get those wretched things blocked); a lot of things will clear out pretty well after restarting and restoring the opened tabs (though this is partly because they're not loaded into memory again until they're accessed again).EDIT: After posting this comment, I closed all my tabs (something which causes one of my extensions - probably Tree Style Tab - to throw a confirmation dialog with the number of tabs). The number was 233, plus another ten or so in another window. I must say, that's pretty damn good, all things considered.I'm trying out Nightly right now to see if I can push that even further with the new e10s features. Same here. I'm regularly hitting 200+ tabs on multiple profiles for various reasons (news, documentation, etc.). This is precisely why I use Firefox for all my browsing usage (and have for some time). Chrome/Chromium chokes once you hit about 100-150 tabs, and the tab UI is not usable once open tabs fall off the edge of the window (there's probably an extension to fix this). Now, I will admit that Firefox misbehaves once you hit about thewhy is my tabs auto opening like streamlabs tabs and login tabs
ANAHEIM, CA — A local wife has revealed she is buying a second cell phone after reaching her previous phone's maximum number of open browser tabs. The move became necessary after housewife Andrea Kirby discovered she had finally reached her iPhone's maximum allowable open browser tabs, requiring her to expand her browsing to an additional phone."There's probably no other way to fix this," Kirby explained. "It's really the only conceivable option for me, since all 500 of my current tabs have to remain open, and I can't open any more without branching out to another device."Kirby went on to detail the importance of keeping every browser tab she's ever created open in case she were to ever need to reference an online chocolate chip cookie recipe she ran across in 2021. "I don't have a choice," she continued. "It's not as though I can keep it any other way. What else am I supposed to do? Bookmark it? Email it to myself? Print it off? Take a screenshot? Save it in a note? Let's not be ridiculous. No, I'll just keep the browser tab open on my phone for the rest of my life."Tech industry insiders confirmed that a significant percentage of all cell phone sales can actually be attributed to wives buying second phones so they can have more open browser tabs. "If companies expanded their phones' capacity for open browser tabs, the entire phone market would collapse," said one expert. At publishing time, Andrea Kirby already had 275 open browser tabs on her new phone. This is a 100% accurate depiction of how the best experts designed the legendary USDA Food Pyramid.. Yes, it's on my Mac that I have this issue. Can you please clarify by what you mean that if I'm on Facebook webpages, "then the icon for the website is going to show on every tab that's normal." Do you mean if I have one webpage up that is Facebook, but have other tabs open that are non Facebook pages those non Facebook tabs (websites) will also show a Facebook icon on the tabs even though they are not Facebook websites??Here's what I've run into for example: I will have looked at Facebook, then use that same tab to enter a new web address like Youtube. So I now have only 1 tab open and it is on Youtube. The Facebook icon still shows on the tab instead of a Youtube icon, even though I no longer have a Facebook website up. Then I make a new tab for example, my local electricity webpage. This new tab I have also shows a Facebook icon. So all three tabs that are open show a Facebook icon on the tab, even though none of the tabs open are a Facebook webpage. The icons show on the tab at the top, on the left of it's description ie: Youtube. I will try clearing my history but cannot at this time.My Open Tabs - Chrome Web Store
As a senior full stack developer with over 10 years of experience building web applications, I‘ve come to rely on Google Chrome as my primary browser both personally and professionally. As Chrome has grown to over 65% global marketshare since its launch in 2008, I‘ve observed firsthand both the benefits of its speed, security, and features, along with the occasional frustrations of losing important tabs and sessions when it unexpectedly crashes or closes. While crashing is rare, Chrome does fully freeze or stop responding nearly once per 100 hours of active usage on average. And when managing large development projects with potentially hundreds of open tabs for research references, emails, and code samples – the sudden loss is quite disruptive. Thankfully from both my own trial and error, along with reading the Chromium source code itself on GitHub, I‘ve learned Chrome stores browsing sessions in a variety of ways that make restoring lost tabs or windows relatively straightforward if you know where to look.Throughout this comprehensive guide, I‘ll draw on my expertise building complex web applications and contributing to open source Chrome extensions to demonstrate multiple methods to restore your precious tabs. Whether you accidentally closed a tab, Chrome crashed unexpectedly, or you just reopened your laptop after a while and want to get right back to what you were working on – I‘ll cover you. Let‘s get started bringing your tabs back from the dead! How Chrome Saves Open TabsBefore diving into the various ways to restore sessions, it‘s helpful to understand how Chrome stores your currently open tabs and windows behind the scenes:In memory: All active tab and window data exists in Chrome‘s process memory allocated when it starts up. This allows quick access while browsing but means the session is lost if the process crashes or ends.On disk: Chrome.
