If you have a new iPad, you restore the iPad to a backup of the old iPad. If you are doing this with iTunes on the computer, then it is telling you that you need a newer version of iTunes on the computer, not on the iPad(s). If your new iPad has iOS 12.x on it, then you need the latest version of iTunes. You can obtain that for your computer here, iTunes - Upgrade to Get iTunes Now - Apple, depending on what computer OS you are using. There is no iTunes app for the iOS device, only iTunes Store, which allows you to purchase music/movies, and the App Store, which allows for purchase of apps. Well worth it I think Sep 24, 2009 4:52 AM in response to wehutty One thing that iTunes 9 broke, that hasn't been addressed in the 9.0.1 update is smart playlists not appearing in the desired sorting order on an iPhone when compared to their sorting order as they appears within iTunes: Example: You create a smart playlist of Podcasts with a playcount of 0 You sort your list of Podcasts in alphabetical order in iTunes by simply clicking on the "name" in the "name" column. - or - you click on "time" in the time column to sort your unplayed Podcasts so that the playlist sorts them by shortest first and so on. Here's the problem... In iTunes 8 the above synced playlist would appear identical on the iPhone as it did in iTunes. In other words, you could listen to your Podcast playlist in the order you desired / setup within iTunes. In iTunes 9, THIS HAS STOPPED WORKING! Is there some way to upgrade iTunes 9 be reverting back to iTunes 8? iTunes 8 just worked. Here is a relatively simple way to uninstall for you. Step 1: Ensure iTunes is not launching. Step 2: Find iTunes and drag it into the trash. Step 3: Open the Activity Monitor. You can find it after clicking Finder, Application and Utility. Step 4: Find iTunes Helper from the list and hit "Quit Process". In this step, when you are asked if you want to quit the process, just click "Quit" and you can quit Activity Monitor. Step 5: Remove iTunes Helper from Login Items. You can find Login Items through this road: Apple icon→System Preferences→Accounts/Users & Groups→ Login Items. After finding the Login Items, just choose iTunes Helper entry, click the button of "-" and remove it. Step 6: Go to the button of "Go" on the top list and select "Go to Folder". Step 7: Type "/System/Library/Extension" into the blank of the box, and then you can click "Go". Step 8: Drag the file AppleMobileDevicpSupport.pkg into the trash. We only have 1 phone that has an unlimited data plan, all others are bare minimum data plan and the iPads are strictly download from the internet. Our internet data plan is also very limited. We are rural and internet data plans aren’t exactly affordable around here. Up to now, it’s download once and then just use iTunes to get the app(s) on the other devices, saving on our Phone and Internet data plans. Will have to look into some way to get the app(s) off a device and onto a PC.
