For administrators who manage Chrome browser or ChromeOS devices for a business or school. As a Chrome administrator, you can let users browse the web in private. For example, multiple users can share the same device without being able to see other users’ browsing history and Chrome profile information.Step 1: Compare private browsing optionsDecide which type of private browsing is right for users in your organization. Ephemeral—Users sign in to Chrome and have access to the full extent of a browser session. For example, they can use Chrome sync to synchronize and save their bookmarks, history, and other settings to their Google Account. When they sign out of Chrome or exit the browser, all local data is deleted. Ephemeral browsing is useful for shared devices with multiple users. Guest—Users can browse the web without signing in to their Google Account or being affected by existing Chrome profiles on a device. Browser session data isn’t saved on the local disk. Guest sessions are useful for letting other users privately browse the web without signing in. For example, users can provision certificates or gather logs to help troubleshoot problems with Chrome. Incognito—Users can browse the web using a separate Chrome window from the one that they’re signed in to. Users can switch between Incognito windows and their regular Chrome windows, but they only browse in private when they're using an Incognito window. Browser session data isn’t saved on the local disk. Incognito windows are useful when users want to temporarily browse the web without keeping history or using previous history. For example, if a user has signed in to their personal account and wants to temporarily sign in to the Google Admin console using a different account, Incognito mode creates separation and ephemerality.Users can browse Chrome as a guest or in Incognito mode, unless you use policy to disable those browsing modes. Users can only browse Chrome in Ephemeral mode if you use policy to force them to. The following table compares commonly used features available for ephemeral, guest, and incognito private browsing options. Feature Ephemeral Guest Incognito Users can add bookmarks. January 13, 2021, 12:42pm 1 I have read the posts from the past and none of the resolutions have fixed the issue. I have my computer as well as 3 other computers in my environment where chrome stops responding for about 25 seconds while trying to generate the print preview. I have removed all extensions, The cloud printing flag is no longer a configurable option, I Have removed and re-installed chrome to no avail. I have even re-mapped my printers and tried both PCL and PS drivers. I’m following this, because I have the same issue. I hope someone comes along with a fix. It’s pretty annoying. mcarlin (MC-UCity) January 19, 2021, 3:20pm 3 I to am following. It is not every computer on my network, only a few that are having the issue(that have been reported). We recently deployed a new print server along with new printers. Seems like it started happening around the same time. Possibly a queue issue between the server and the browser? Once I switch the user to a different printer, it seems to load faster, but closing Chrome and reopening reproduces the issue. I have done the uninstall/reinstall as well as disabling all extensions. Very frustrating when a fair amount of our services are browser based… i was just getting ready to try the driver swap but I guess I’ll hold on that now as well. mcarlin (MC-UCity) January 19, 2021, 4:37pm 4 Also, I am running my Print Server on MS 2016 and all of my devices have updated drivers. mcarlin (MC-UCity) January 21, 2021, 1:28pm 5 Here is a simple fix, but not a solution. Try renaming the google folder under C:/users/%username%/appdata/localThat fixed it for me, but the user will need to log back into chrome to sync up any passwords they had etc.You can copy over any needed bookmarks or sync data from the chrome/userdata/default folder. If user didn’t sync their passwords to their login you can always roll back the change by deleting the new google folder and changing the name back.Export their passwords and repeat the change.Hope this helps!Comments
