New 04 Aug 2011 #1 No sound through HDMI A few days ago, I plugged a HDMI cable into my new laptop and watched a few videos on my HDTV. No problems whatsoever. Since then though, every time I plug in the HDMI cable, the video comes through just fine, but there's no sound. I've found several threads with similar problems, both here and on other sites, but nothing I've found and tried has worked. Some more details: Laptop is a HP Pavilion DV6-3141eaGraphics card ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 (Most threads say it's something to do with the graphics but I've still not managed to fix it)I've updated the drivers for both the graphics card and the sound card (IDT High Definition Audio CODEC). When I plug in the HDMI, nothing changes in my sound settings - the only choices I have are Speakers and Headphones, Independent Headphones, and Speakers (Bluetooth Hands-free Audio). There's no HDMI option or SP/DIF or anything appearing once I plug in the HDMI. I've checked for disconnected and disabled devices too, and it still doesn't show up.Any advice would be greatly appreciated - I get the distinct feeling this is one of those things that's been staring me in the face the whole time > New 05 Aug 2011 #2 If the HDMI is not listed in the Control Panel/Hardware and Sound/Sound Panel playback section. RIGHT click in a blank area in that panel and select show disabled and disconnected devices. If it then displays the HDMI you can then select it as default playback device and you should get HDMI audio. But, if it still does not display that USUALLY indicates a problem with the Video drivers. I have the same hardware and drivers on a dual boot (separate hard drives) on Win 8 and it shows as "AMD High Definition Audio Device". Things I've tried:1. Uninstall the High Defintion Audio Device in the Device Manager then restart the PC and let Windows detect and reinstall. Did not change.2. Search for new driver, but all it finds is the one that is already installed. 3 Uninstall the HD Audio Device in the Device Manager again. Then install the latest AMD Catalyst/driver (the beta version, as I had the latest non-beta version installed), restart the PC. Still have the Microsoft driver listed rather than AMD. Which driver works better is not the point. It should be using the AMD driver, not the generic Microsoft HD Audio Codec driver. My on-board audio (RealTek) is using the RealTek driver. New 10 Feb 2013 #2 Fixed. Fell back to the 12-10 Catalyst/drivers. That was the one thing I didn't try. With the 12-10 drivers it shows "AMD" in the HDMI. The 13-1 and the 13-2Beta5 when installed both show HD Audio (Microsoft). Must be a bug in the Win 7 drivers since the same drivers in Win 8 have the correct AMD in the HDMI. New 10 Feb 2013 #3 Tried the standalone ATI HDMI driver from Realtek? New 10 Feb 2013 #4 I wouldn't think RealTek would have anything to do with AMD Radeon HDMI. ???? Card meets the minimum requirements. Also try updating to the latest drivers supplied by the manufacturer. In September 2012, there was a problem with the ATI graphics driver which would cause jerky video or freezing of the video screen. This should be fixed with an update from ATI on their graphics drivers. I get a black screen in the preview window when using Component video from a cable TV set top box. Some set top boxes will disable or turn off the component output if the HDMI or DVI output is being used. Check to see how you have your Television connected to your set top box. You might need to disconnect the HDMI connector on your set top box when you want to record TV programs. Audio pass through does not work In order for the audio pass through to operate, you need to configure the Audio settings in the Hauppauge Capture application. Click on the Capture tab. In the Audio input section, choose your audio source from the drop down menu ( RCA, HDMI ). Once configured, the HD PVR 2 will retain these settings. Note: the HD PVR 2 must be powered on for the pass through to operate. My video recordings look pixelated with fast motion. What can I do? Increasing the recording bitrate will eliminate motion artifacts in your recordings. In Haupauge Capture, in the Capture tab make sure Variable is selected. Than start with Quality set to 11 Mbits/sec. This should give you very good quality. You can continue to increase the Quality up to a maximum of 14 Mbists/sec. You can experiment with other settings, but in our experience, these are good for uploading to YouTube. What resolutions and bit rates are supported using the HD PVR 2? Video record resolutions are 1080p30, 720p60, 540p60, 480p60 and a number of downscale variants of these formats. You can record at datarates from 1Mbs to 13.5Mbs. If you choose Variable, the maximum recording datarate is about 1.5 times the selected rate. As an example, if you have Variable selected and set the Quality to 14Mbits/sec,Realtek Ati Hdmi Audio Device Driver Download
Key priority and using Battery and Power testing outside OS.AMD HD5000 and HD4200(for VGA) graphics drivers not compatible with WIN10, maybe! Somebody please confirm this!(I say maybe because the GPU repair may not have been a total success afterall)I am yet to find the conflicts, the HD5000 driver will not start and the HD4200 driver will not install a compatible driver for WIN10. Screen brightness and calibration cannot be accessed either. AMD Catalyst doesnt detect a driver and the newest AMD Beta Crimson does not help and causes sytem instability. AMD/ATi Drivers removed again using DDU for windows.**For now I use the Standard Microsoft Display driver and bump the Resolution beyond the recommended settings without issue. I also set my screen to sleep after 1 min when running on battery as 100% brightness is not an efficient way of conserving power or the lifespan of the power supply. I will post new AMD Driver below once issues are fixed.ATI High Definition Sound driver installed via the compatibility in WIN7 mode. Unfortunately the quality of the sound output was seriously diminished so advice would be to use the Standard Microsoft HD Audio Device driver, unfortunately this means that the headphone jack can only output stereo, where i need a digital signal for DTS capabilties. The HDMI port is enabled for sound, as i can see the output in the Playback Device Properties, but sound cannot work through the HDMI port due to the graphics driver problems above. DOLBY PRO LOGIC IT IS THEN!!!FOR NOW!!! Again i wil post a suitable ATi driver when patch is completed. The Fingerprint sensor WIN7 driver installed via compatibility WIN7 mode and works correctly, confirmed by the HP Simplepass protection and log-in feature, also a WIN7 version. However, WIN10 doesnt like you logging in using HPs own.
