However, today I happened to notice my hard drive was running out of space. I did clean up the usual suspects but also ran Omni Disk Sweeper to find other culprits. I was surprised to see Garmin hit the top of the list. Apparently the file namedAlldata.gdb.bakwas listed at 38 Gb. NOT Mb, but Gb! Whoa! That's half the capacity of my other laptop. I'm glad I installed it on my desktop. Sheesh.So, my question is:Does anyone know if this is typical of the filesize? Can it be deleted? ".bak" suggests to me it is just a backup file; an extremely large back-up file!Any suggestions out there?Thanks! I went ahead and registered it with the Garmin website to download the latest firmware. I then used the unit to check out if everything worked out. It did and it says I have maps "City navigator North America NT 2009 [1] ALL" in my Zumo.So, the next thing I do is place the City Navigator NT North America DVD into my Mac following the instruction on the back thinking it will load Map Source but all that installed was two programs called "Garmin Mapinstall" and "Garmin MapManager" But no MapSource. I thought MapSource is on the DVD.

So many companies or products offer such little, or limited support for the products foisted on us that I am often left feeling cheated on my purchase. The Zumo and all your input here on the forum have been wonderful. Ok, enough kudos....I really can't explain the size of this file. I will try deleting it and see if it recreates this size file. I do have several routes and waypoints in My Collection but had no idea it would lead to this. Not sure if anyone can help but I've installed free Greece map ( in RoadTrip and all works fine with contours etc. all showing. When I use MapInstall to load onto my Garmin Etrex HCX all seems to work except that details such as contours and tracks disappear whatever the magnification. It worked once at the start but I deleted that gmapsupp.img to make a better one (what a shame!). What's up with my garmin apps? We're planning a ride to Greece in September then plan to go on walking trips - but without map details we'll be up a creek without a puddle.Any ideas? I've tried reinstalling MapInstall with no success

Requires administrator access. On Windows 7 and Vista you will be asked about this. Done. The folder where the map was installed and all the files in it should now be deleted.If not you can delete them manuelly. Files belonging to other maps or programs must not be deleted or moved. BaseCamp or Mapsource (or Windows) can stop working if you do so. The install and uninstall program does a lot of settings in Windows that must be done correctly to make it work. We recomend using BaseCamp. Mapsource is not working 100% and often the contour lines is not shown.BaseCamp can be downloaded from www.garmin.com. Installing on Mac. The program MapManager must be installed.It can be downloaded from www.garmin.com. Unzip the map file you have downloaded. Dobbel click the.gmapi folder. The MapManager program will start and take you thru the installation. We recomend using BaseCamp. RoadTrip can be used but does not work 100%. BaseCamp can be downloaded from www.garmin.com.Uninstalling on Mac. All maps is placed in the folder /Library/Application Support/Garmin/Maps/. To uninstall it just move this folder to the Trash.
